Wrong Legacy Name but SWTOR CS Gets it Right

After transferring my characters to their new server, I chose a new Legacy name like everyone else. When I clicked ok, the confirmation box popped up. Everything looked the same as what I typed, so I clicked ok again.

My new Legacy name was set! …Except it wasn’t exactly what I’d typed.

Legacy names do NOT keep the same case as what you type, they are converted to being one word with only the first letter capitalized. For example, if you wanted MarioBrothers as your Legacy, it would end up as Mariobrothers. However, a bug in the confirmation box does not show this transformation! This was awful, as I’d chosen a new Legacy name which was the last name of a character I’d had for several years in another game and having it look wrong solely to an error that was not of my making was very disheartening. If the confirmation box had shown what the name would actually become I’d have chosen something else!

With much trepidation, I wrote in to CS asking for a change due to this bug.

I was very nervous waiting for the result of my ticket, as my previous request to change my character’s name based on it inadvertently being a celebrity’s name had been denied. It wasn’t a big enough celebrity I guess, despite that several people had asked if I’d named my character after the person.

After a few days I got the reply: they had reset my Legacy as a one-time exception due to the server transfers.

PS: I’ve put in a bug report about the confirmation box and hope to see it fixed soon. For something that will become permanent and is so extremely personal, for it to have no warning that it will be different than what you type in is inexcusable. They should really have a link to a FAQ on “How to choose your Legacy name” from the Legacy panel, which explains what format is allowed, in addition to the confirmation box being fixed to show the true result.

SWTOR Horrible Customer Service AGAIN

My enquiry as to when I’d receive the 30 days game time as my sub expires, well, tomorrow, and the email I received stated that I’d receive it sometime before the 25th, was simply closed without any response, not even a form letter. This is my response to that.

Ok seriously, I’m a founder, I’ve given a ton of suggestions, feedback, bug reports, I’ve encouraged people to buy the game. I’ve founded a guild and a fansite, and even though I’ve unsubbed I’ve continued to give valuable feedback and help others in the game and out.

Then you have the utter and complete GALL to simply close my enquiry without even any response as to when I will be receiving the 30 days game time?

Wow. I was planning on keeping an eye on the game’s patch notes and possibly returning but now? What complete draconian bullshit.

You need to learn how to treat customers like they’re valued. Badly.

I expect it to be closed without a response as well just to keep their reputation as the worst customer service of any game company.

This, on top of the gameplay mechanics changes they brought in for 1.2 completely undermines any confidence I had in the company.

Bye bye Bioware.

Updated: No reply as of next morning. At least not closed without even a form letter. Are they waiting until the sub expires before replying where I can’t see it? Is my sub up today or 30 days from tomorrow? I guess time will tell, because Bioware isn’t telling yet.

I know their CS must be swamped right now, but they changed the rules after I received the letter and I’m simply asking for clarification.

My guildies want me to continue. I would like to take a break for a week or two (after getting the rest of the containment social set tomorrow) and hope that there are fixes for the glaring issues of 1.2: Less TTK in warzones, healing being a less viable path to character advancement than anything else, threat problems in tanking on top of the problems tanks already had in actually rounding up mobs.

Patch notes today state that rewards for losing warzones have been adjusted and that people will receive rewards from at least one medal. This helps the situation. I’d like to reward fixes but some communication would go a long way to restoring my confidence.


Finally a reply. Yes my sub will start again on the 25th, and they apologized for the delay in response time.

Rakghoul Plague Event Guide (SWTOR)

Multiple systems have been infected, citizens are advised to quarantine themselves. Complete travel ban on going to Tattooine (which means, ALL PLAYER CHARACTERS GO TO TATTOOINE!) according to official news sources.

Breaking News! In addition to the daily quests there’s more! Check Dulfy’s guide for gaining the “Tracking the Origin” quest on Empire, Republic may have something similar although details are not yet confirmed. Republic version “Origins of the Outbreak” is here by @r2d2arm.

Best map for the quests above is by Exhaust Port. The reward is a Crimson Rakling.

The daily quests are [AREA] quests, so go to the following coordinates on Tattooine to pick them up. Vendor is north of the crash site up on the dune.

Go northeast of Thorazon to get the dailies in area 1.
Vendor is at: -892, -1925
Area 2 is at Largona, with another daily.

Dailies for Outfit

The quest chain that rewards the orange moddable Republic or Empire Containment Officer (Social I) outfit starts by picking up an item from the first [AREA] quest. Each new quest takes a day to open up for you, so if you haven’t done the prior day’s quest you’ll be unable to see or pick up the new one. April 19th is the last day to pick up Blood Sample and get the entire outfit by doing the next one each day!

  1. Blood Sample – 50 LS or DS points plus boots or 1 DNA – picked up from Area 1
  2. Passenger List – gloves – picked up from Area 1
  3. Hybrid Strain – legs – picked up from Area 2
  4. Pure Virus Sample – helm – picked up from Area 1
  5. Newly Infected – chest or belt (need to do it twice to get both) – picked up from Area 2

REWARDs from Vendor in Exchange for Rakghoul DNA

  • Black/Green colour crystals, for levels 31 and 50, various stat choices. 75 and 83 event currency respectively. Waiting confirmation if it’s a different green from the Razer exclusive, but probably.
  • Pale Rakling” – A mini Rakghoul pet. 60 event currency.
  • Infected Companion” box with a random companion customization. 20 event currency.

My Questions for Community Q&A (SWTOR)

1. When are server mergers/transfers going to be available and how will Legacy affect that? Would you consider making Legacy unlocks on an account-wide basis but the name must be gained on each server by at least one character?

I know a lot of people who want to reroll to join us but who are stuck with 40+ Legacy on another server they can’t just give up. They shouldn’t have to give it up.

2. Now that you’ve had a look at mirror class parity is there any consideration going to be given to healing class parity?

As it stands, Trooper/BH healing is by far subpar to the other two healer types due to lack of hots, the ammo problem for Trooper specifically, and lack of survivability/utility in PVP compared to the other healer types. It’s slightly subpar in PVE due to the ammo problems, as well.

3. What happened to dual spec?

I need to be a healer for my guild in FP/Ops but as healing now stands need to be DPS to gain character advancement in pvp. 90% of my time is in pvp is solely making Sages and Scoundrels look even better through 5% kolto bomb boost and not getting votes or medals because Trooper healing is so easily shut down.

4. Will we have Purple and Violet Twi’lek on unlocking Twi’lek race? đŸ˜‰

Leaving SWTOR due to class balance problems

After playing a healing Commando at level 50 I now have real feedback on class balance.

The ammo problem makes it the weakest healer for PVE and causes real problems in PVP compared to the mirror class. The lack of HOTS, stuns, or absorbs makes it by far the weakest in PVP.

Other healing classes can stay up much longer while being focused, and having heavy armor does nothing when enemies do absurd amounts of damage that can kill anything at all in 3-4 hits even while you’re healing yourself.

In warzones, I spend the entire time stunned, dead, or out of ammo. In the gear I have now, when not focused I do about 249k in heals at max, but when attacked I can’t even get the 75k medal. Sages do 140k easily while being attacked, and Scoundrels have a lot of options for staying alive in bad situations. That’s a huge reduction in character advancement compared to other healing classes. You don’t get medals, you don’t contribute enough to get mvp votes and you’re just killed over and over without any chance to do anything about it.

My character spent her entire time leveling as the Hero of the Galaxy, taking down bosses, and now suddenly it’s obvious the class is just terrible and there’s nothing that I can do to make her viable.

Every Commando healer I know has respecced to DPS or is telling me to respec to DPS if I want to keep the character.

I feel like deleting my character, the one I’ve worked hardest on, because to respec to DPS would completely abandon not only the entire character concept but her role in the guild, and the guild concept.

Then on top of all that, I hear that our kolto bomb aoe heal is actually going to be nerfed in 1.2, not buffed with a heal over time added to it like the similar aoe heal for Sage/Sorc.

I can’t believe how horribly awful this tree is to play, and I wonder why you even bother to have a healing tree for Trooper if it’s just going to be this bad.

It’s for this reason I’ve decided to not renew my subscription, despite running a guild and a fansite for the game.

Prior to this I’d canceled the sub over the Empire favoritism in pvp, however that is slated to be fixed in 1.2. However if I don’t vote on this balance issue with my money and time, it’s just whining. I’d be happy to return if the issues are fixed.

Expected a company of Bioware’s calibre to do better.

I keep saying that.

Since I can’t get to Austin to be there, I didn’t apply. Taking some notes here for what I hope is addressed.


Player vs. Player Discussion

  1. Will there be any consideration given to removing expertise, tweaking boost, and allowing guildies of any level to group for pvp? That’s what attracted me to this game from the start, pvp TOGETHER from 10-50.

Legacy Presentation

  1. Will there be purple Twi’lek available in this system? Will I be able to make a purple or deep indigo blue Twi’lek Bounty Hunter?
  2. What are the relationship options in the Legacy Tree system?
  3. Will there be more character slots available for us to use these cool new things or do we have to kill our current characters in order to make slots available? Drooling over some of these options but I planned out 8 slots already!

  • Looking to see if my suggestion of giving Armormech and Synthweaving more customizable pieces is taken.

Guild Features Discussion

  • Sure, guild bank is awesome but will we be able to send a whisper or a party invite to our guildies from the guild interface? I don’t care about extra goodies such as banks or guild ships, only the basic missing features.
  • That said, if there are guild ships, will we be able to do space missions with multiplayer of a group of guildies?

User Interface Presentation

  • Ok, looks like we can change placement and size with the options, but can we change the colours? A couple of visually impaired guildies here have a hell of a time reading pale blue on medium blue.
